This event will provide information on entrepreneurial opportunities in this exciting
new field, along with government incentives and involvement in Alternative Energy Technologies.
A panel discussion, will feature conversation on finding funding for new ventures, as well as
experiences of local entrepreneurs already operating businesses in this arena.
Opening remarks and introductions by Rich Lunak, President and CEO, Innovation Works
Rebecca Bagley, Deputy Secretary for PA's Technology Investment Office will offer a closing presentation
pertaining to Governor Rendell's new energy plan, what monies are available to entrepreneurs
and how to access the funds that are available.

Panelists:
- Andy Hannah
President and CEO of Pittsburgh-based Plextronics, Inc. Plextronics is the world leader in developing active layer technology for printed electronic devices including polymer solar cells.
- Tom Trimm
Partner at Pepper Hamilton LLP. Mr. Trimm specializes in public finance, energy and land use development.
- JF Scarborough
Executive Director of the Washington DC-based MAPA Group. Mr. Scarborough will be discussing his work with Isofoton, Inc., an international solar energy corporation.
- Thorne King
CEO, BPL Global. BPL is an international company, headquartered in Pittsburgh. It’s mission is to help the electric utility industry
achieve a level of operational command and control far beyond present systems and deliver superior broadband services to their customers.

Moderator: Ned Renzi
Ned is a founding partner of Birchmere Ventures where he focuses on cleantech and other engineering driven technologies.
He is a current or past director of COPD Partners, Cvent, Entigo, Lightningcast, and Plextronics.
He is also a Founding Charter Member and current board member of TiE Pittsburgh and a
board member of the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association. Ned is also a frequent guest lecturer at
Carnegie Mellon University.
